		<description>Pat, if you are wondering what NEA is doing for this NY city school, you should know NY cities school fall under AFT (American Federation of Teachers).  As an NEA Board member, I assure you NEA is leading the fight in Congress and on the national front regarding opposition to punitive laws and funding models.  The bigger concern is when did the Democratic party leaders and our Democratic President decide to sell out public schools to a corporate reform agenda?  NEA can certainly do more to insure non-corporate Democrats get elected, but that is job every Democrat needs to focus on even if their top issue is job creation, the environment, health care, or transportation.  While we might be able to get a few progressive moderate Republicans elected, I see no hope for the Republican party or their party leaders in the next 10 years.</description>

As a past member of 5 unions, 4 with AFL/CIO and the 5th NEA I must say the NEA is the most cowardly, useless organization I have ever belonged to.  I rue the dues I paid for 31 years.</description>

I have seen similar arrangements in a yard on the Olympic Peninsula, but there, much smaller stones have been used.  And some of them seem to have been in place for a long time; even those with more than two stones.  I haven&#039;t seen the builder at work or examined them closely, so I can&#039;t preclude the use of glue etc.

Re the Mexican stone piles.  It would appear from the picture that many of the stones&#039;surfaces are covered with vugs. Perhaps those small holes accumulate moisture and as that moisture evaporates it changes the weight distribution of the stone, disturbing the delicate balance.

I added the Personal Intelligence component maybe 10 years ago and taught a pilot group of Paco High students (with Debbie Duggan). I wonder, under the topic implementation, managing the development of thinking skills by teaching students to manage their own thinking, is this being taught in schools of education or do teachers learn this on the job through professional development?
